New and Notable Video Contests - Week of November 25
Biggest cash prize: $60,000 in the Oral-B Ryan Newman Video Project, brought to you by Tongal. Oral-B is seeking a filmmaker to produce two spots with one of NASCAR’s biggest personalities. Each :30 second spot will require a :15 second cutdown, and you’ll be asked to also supple a behind the scenes video. This one’s even more special because you’ll need to be available to shoot the spot on December 12th in the Charlotte, NC area, and you’ll be required to book your own travel out of the award money. If you think you’re the right person for the job, make your pitch between now and December 2nd. Open worldwide.
Best Prize: A PS4 + a case of Liquid Ice energy drink in the Liquid Ice Energy ‘Crazy 4 PS4’ Video Contest. Ready to go crazy? In a 30-second video, show just how wild (within the bounds of safety) you’re willing to go to get a PS4 then get your friends to vote for you. Half your score will be public votes, the other half will come from the contest judges. Open to US residents. Due December 24th.
Best trip: Trip to LA to participate in the 2014 Academy Awards in the Academy Awards ‘Team Oscar’ Video Competition. This one’s only open to college students in the US, but it’s a cool opportunity for a couple lucky people to get an up-close look at the film industry. How close? Well, you could be one of 6 college students who will deliver Oscar statues to this year’s celebrity presenters during the big show. To enter, submit a 60-second-or-less video that conveys your passion for films and how you plan to contribute to the industry’s future. Due January 5th, 2014.
OVC’s Pick of the Week: Our overall favorite contest this week is the Shameless Film Festival, brought to you by Zooppa. While this contest is being sponsored by the Showtime series, Shameless, it’s not a commercial project. Instead they are seeking 30-second to 2-minute narrative films that features somebody who epitomizes, in one way or another, a ‘Shameless’ personality. If you can tell a great story along these lines, you can earn up to $10,000! And if you can be quick about it, you could even snag a $5,000 early entry award for the best film submitted by December 19th. Otherwise, there will be lots more cash prizes handed out to films, some chosen by the contest judges and some chosen by public vote. Open worldwide, 14 and older. The final due date is January 2nd, 2014.
